Your workspace has its own Mercora number on WhatsApp. Members use it to reach the Copilot from their phone, and admins route WhatsApp groups to Mercora’s workflows. There are two kinds of connection:
Sending is off until the Mercora team turns it on. Until then, Mercora sends nothing on WhatsApp: the Copilot can’t reply, broker orders and thumbs-up reactions aren’t sent, and approvals aren’t sent to phones. Messages Mercora receives in routed groups still reach the Inbox. Ask the Mercora team when you are ready to send.

What WhatsApp is used for

1

Open your personal WhatsApp page

Go to Settings → Integrations, and under Personal, click WhatsApp. The page shows the channel’s status and Mercora’s Bot number.
2

Add your number

Under Your numbers, enter your phone number in international format (for example +41 79 123 45 67) and click Link number.
3

Wait for activation

Your number shows Waiting for admin activation. Once a workspace admin activates it, it reads Active, and Mercora answers you with your own permissions.
To stop, unlink the number on the same page.

Use the Copilot on WhatsApp

Message Mercora’s number from your linked phone. You get the same Copilot as on Home, with your own Mercora access, with a few differences for a phone:
  • Answers are short and formatted for WhatsApp. Charts arrive as images, and links are full addresses.
  • Changes wait for your typed yes. There are no buttons on WhatsApp. When the Copilot would change a record, it describes the change and asks; it acts only after you reply yes. A no changes nothing.
  • Ask the way you would on Home, for example “What’s the status of VCS-S-2026-0714?” or “Is Meridian Foodstuffs’ invoice VCS-INV-2026-0731 paid yet?”.
  • When you forward a recap, the Copilot asks “Should I create a deal out of this?”. Reply yes, or react with 👍, and it goes to the Inbox for review.
  • A conversation lasts 24 hours after its last message; after that, a new one starts.
  • Files you send (PDF, JPEG, PNG or Word) become documents, processed and reviewed in the Inbox like an upload. Upload spreadsheets in the app instead.

Set up the workspace connection (admins)

Open Settings → Integrations → WhatsApp. The number itself is set up by the Mercora team; the page shows whether it is connected. The switch at the top turns WhatsApp on or off for the workspace. While it is off, Mercora ignores incoming WhatsApp messages.

Activate members’ numbers

Under WhatsApp integration, the table lists the numbers that may use Mercora, with the member who linked each one. Click a number’s status to switch it between Active and Inactive. Mercora only answers a number that a member linked and an admin activated.

Route groups to workflows

Add Mercora’s number to the WhatsApp groups you want it in. Mercora ignores every group you don’t route.
  • WhatsApp Group Routings maps a group to a hedging role: hedge-source for trader confirmations, broker-confirm for where the broker replies with fills. See Hedging.
  • Groups for automations lists the groups the bot is in. Switch a group on and its messages start the automations listening to it. Hedge groups stay with the hedge flow.

Hedge rules

Commodity Hedge Rules sets how hedges are sized and where they are logged. See Hedging.

What automations can do with it

The page also lists Mercora’s WhatsApp actions for automations and the Copilot: Find a group, Send to a member and Send to a group. Every action starts off; sending always asks first. Mercora only messages members who linked their number and groups the bot is already in, never a group used for hedging. See Integrations.

Approvals on your phone

If you switch on WhatsApp under Settings → Notifications and your number is linked and active, approvals and questions from automations that wait for you are also sent to WhatsApp, each with a number to reply with. See Approve from your phone.
